Nike Celebrate Baltimore's Role In Air Force 1 History
The Air Force 1 was facing the chopping block in 1984 – only two short years after it was initially released – but it was the unparalleled popularity of the shoe in Baltimore that ultimately convinced the brand to push forward with the AF1 program.
To celebrate Baltimore's role in saving the iconic Uptown that would eventually go on and become one of the most recognisable Nike shoes in the world, the brand will drop a special version of the SF-AF1 Mid exclusively at DTLR's Baltimore locations. Named 'For Baltimore,' the gum-soled SF-AF1 is constructed with premium tumbled leather and ballistic nylon across the upper, with 'B'More' embroidered across the strap and matching swing tag attached. Packaged in a special Ed Piskor-designed box, each pair will also include a comic book from the artist that illustrates the story behind the Baltimore connection.
The Nike Special Forces Air Force 1 Mid will be available from DTLR's Mondawmin Mall and on Monument Street locations in Baltimore from September 30.
