Nike Serve Up the Air Tech Challenge II ‘Tart’

are bringing back a tennis icon with the return of the in the classic ‘Tart’ colourway (officially dubbed ‘Sail/Stone Blue/Tart’). First laced up by rebellious tennis royalty in the early 1990s, this retro release blends bold colour blocking reminiscent of the New York Knicks uniform.
The 2025 version keeps the spirit of the OG alive, with a ‘Sail’ leather upper and crackled blue overlays, contrasted by a juicy ‘Tart’ orange Swoosh. ‘Coconut Milk’ midsoles add vintage vibes, while the visible Air heel unit and herringbone outsole serve up the same performance pedigree that made the silhouette a game-changer 35 years ago.
This release follows a series of successful retros in 2024 and early 2025. Notably, the iconic colourway returned midway through last year, featuring aged detailing and a vintage aesthetic. The colourway also made a comeback in January, featuring a remastered shape and vintage-inspired design.
Of course, you can’t talk Tech Challenge without tipping your headband to Andre Agassi. Known for his mullet, denim shorts, and rebel-with-a-racket attitude, Agassi rocked the Air Tech Challenge II throughout the 1990 season. From Grand Slam courts to neon-soaked ad campaigns, the shoe became synonymous with his rise – and Nike’s push to inject some moxie into tennis footwear. This marks the fourth release of the ‘Tart’ colourway, previously seen in 1990, 2008, and 2014.
Retailing for $150, the Air Tech Challenge II ‘Tart’ lands June 27 via Nike and select retailers.
