boisterous continues to stomp across the sneaker landscape in 2022, the larger-than-life silhouette no doubt benefiting from the extraordinary The Last Dance documentary series.
Taking design cues from street art and hip hop styling of the mid-90s, the Air More Uptempo has been thrust onto retail shelves in a starburst of colourways in recent months, the theme joining more militant iterations like The latest colourway to arrive is certainly no shrinking violet either, the Air More Uptempo ‘Volt’ joining Team Beaverton’s summer 2022 lineup.
Originally designed by Wilson Smith, the Air More Uptempo still features all the hallmarks of the 1990s hooper, including blow molded visible Air Sole units and elastic straps over the tongue to keep your feet secure. On the eccentric nature of the shoe, Pippen commented, ‘I was pretty shocked. I thought it was a little overwhelming. But I felt like it was something I could handle on the basketball court because I was very confident in the way that I was playing… It was kind of the graffiti basketball shoe — making a statement in real big letters. So it stood on its own.’
Look for the Nike Air More Uptempo ‘Volt’ to release in the coming weeks. The retail price tag is set at $160.
