This Nike Air Max 180 was Inspired by Berlin's Nightlife
When the Berlin Wall came down at the end of the 1980s, a unified Germany saw its capital city begin to thrive once again as artists, designers, and other creatives flocked to Berlin. In celebration of the diverse subcultures that flourished in the years that followed, Nike have prepped a special 'BLN' edition of the Air Max 180 for Air Max Day.
Taking cues from the city's vibrant nightlife and celebrated music culture, the kicks don neon elements throughout and juxtapose them against a grey base that's reminiscent of the city's brutalist architecture. The transparent outsole also reveals the words 'UNITY' and 'FREEDOM' on the right and left feet, respectively, 'both indicative of the power of music to bring people together and a club scene that allows everyone to be themselves.'
The special Air Max Day release will hit Berlin on March 26, before making its way to the rest of Europe via a SNKRS release on March 30.
