Air Max Day 2022 is right around the corner, and a big part of this year's celebration is the Air Max 1 'La Ville-Lumière.' The Parisian-inspired sneaker's name translates to 'The City of Lights' in English, but it's more than a simple nod to the French capital. It's a piece of Nike history, as Tinker Hatfield found his inspiration for the Air Max 1 after viewing the Pompidou Centre on a trip to Paris.

A shoe that's nicknamed 'The City Of Lights' has gotta be bright and bold, so this Air Max 1 features iridescent detailing on its synthetic heel, quarter, eyestays and forefoot overlay. The rest of the top half is composed of either mesh, suede or leather, while a bold '3.26' hit on each navy blue tongue nods directly to Air Max Day. There's also special Parisian text hits on both the insole and the outsole, and the 'La Ville-Lumière' even comes equipped with a special silver Air Max 1 keychain!

If you're looking to light up your sneaker collection with the Nike Air Max 1 'La Ville-Lumière,' you'll be able to do so on March 26 (Air Max Day). It'll be released exclusively in Europe and is a women's-sized silhouette as well.
