Nike Air Max Day 2022 is in a little over two weeks, and Nike are gearing up for the big day. Sneakerheads have learned to expect a special release each year for the Swoosh’s celebration of Air Max, so the brand has made things a little more challenging for collectors by dropping products exclusive to particular regions. Following other special pairs for the other continents, this is an Air Max 1 that will only be attainable in Europe.

While recently revealed before the official announcement, Nike have delved more into this AM1’s inspiration. Named ‘La Ville Lumière’ – or ‘The City of Lights’ – this is a direct reference to Paris, which, as any sneakerhead should know, is where designer Tinker Hatfield found his inspiration for the shoe.

As per the previous preview, there are lots of details on the colour and material front to look at. Like the other exclusive AM1s, this pair has a mixture of mesh and microfibre. This pair ramps it up further with iridescent panelling in the middle, plus a shiny nylon tongue that is navy. The Air Max Day references are also more overt on this edition, namely through its ‘3.26’ tongue tags and mini AM1 accessory that comes with the shoes.

Again, this Air Max 1 will only release in Europe on Air Max Day, AKA March 26. Overseas fans will need a plug, and also must fit women’s sizes.
