The Nike Air Force 1 Mid ‘Independence Day’ Arrives Ahead of the Holidays
After laying in slumber for 25 years, the is finally back in the game. Lauded by many older heads as one of the all-time greatest colourways to ever go Uptown, this patriotic red-white-and-blue example makes its return at the end of the month – well ahead of the holiday it’s named after.
Pundits give the AF-1 a little more leeway than other retros when it comes to historical accuracy as hunting the OGs is still fairly viable, allowing the remakes to spend time on-foot. That’s the case with the ‘Independence Day’ – the metallic blue overlays aren’t the exact same shade as the 1997 original, and the overall silhouette has morphed over the years, but they still look pretty good! Thankfully, Nike got the important bits right, namely the tumbled white leather, crimson red ‘Super Jewel’ Swooshes, matching throat embroidery, white outsole pods on the ice soles, and even period-correct round dubraes.
The vast abundance of sneakers available usually gives little reason to buy multiples, but this is one 2022 release that’s worth copping doubles or even triples!
The Nike Air Force 1 Mid ‘Independence Day’ will be available via Nike SNKRS on April 28.
