Update September 29, 2022: After the red and blue colourways of the Nike Air Force 1 ‘Colour of the Month’ pack were released earlier this year, the pink Swoosh pair is up next! They’re set for a SNKRS release on October 7. Hit the links below to check them out.

Nike’s 40th-anniversary celebration of the Air Force 1 has finally kicked off properly with the overdue ‘Colour of the Month’ series. It started off a couple of weeks ago with an all-white edition, but coming up are some accented variants that live up to the pack’s name.

As a quick refresher, the ‘Colour of the Month’ concept was conceived in the mid-1980s by a handful of Baltimore sneaker stores as a way to stop the AF-1 from being discontinued. The campaign was a roaring success and spawned some of the first limited editions for the model, which at the time was simply achieved by swapping the accent colours.

In 2022, that formula is actually a refreshing breath of simplified air in a time where Uptowns have become increasingly experimental and outlandish. Before getting into the colour options, it’s worth noting Nike have also tweaked the model’s pattern to reproduce an earlier (and some would say superior) silhouette as found on early-2000s colourways. The materials have reportedly improved too.

These upcoming ‘Colour of the Month’ drops see plain white leather uppers with accenting Swooshes of blue, red and pink, which are matched at the heel branding, tongue and midsole logos. All are sat atop gum rubber outsoles.

The red and blue editions will release on August 11 at Nike retailers, while the pink pair is still pending a drop date.
