Formalise Your Footwear Fetish: The Nike Air Force 1 ’Brogue’
Sneakers with more formal styling have certainly made an imprint on the streetwear industry in recent years. Take for example, the three-way x MAN x loafer at in January. While some of these hybrid designs can feel a little ham-fisted at times, the nous of Junya Watanabe made this one stick among sneakerheads, potentially paving the way forward for more designs in the future.
Of course, the brogue is another style more traditionally linked to formal footwear, although the sneaker industry has often presented its own playful reinterpretation. The Lux ‘Brogue Pack’ immediately comes to mind. Hell, even the team dropped-in with the Zoom Janoski Mid Brogue.
The latest Brogue-esque sneaker is Nike’s an all-white sneaker replete with all the identifying hallmarks of the formal footwear.
Featuring perforations and serrations on the side panels, the Swoosh have opted for ‘Soft Pink’ stitching along the midsoles and insoles, adding some more flair to the model. Kilties reinforce the brogue vernacular, while classic rubber outsoles extend the classic AF-1 aesthetic.
