Update September 15, 2023: Nike have officially unveiled their 2023 Air Foamposite One 'Anthracite' as part of their Holiday 2023 basketball showcase. A release date hasn't been confirmed as of yet, but the reveal gives some credibility to a December 12 drop.

The Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Anthracite’ was last spotted in 2020, but it’s coming back again in 2023. The Swoosh are sticking to the ‘if ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ adage with this revival, because the 2023 edition is exactly the same as both the 2007 and 2020 releases. This follows the same pattern as the recent ‘Metallic Red’ re-release, as it had originally appeared in 2012 and 2017 before releasing again just last month; however, it did have slight changes to the originals.

The iteration is called ‘Anthracite’ for good reason, with the rock-hard black Foamposite shell covering the mid-section of the upper. It’s framed up top with softer nubuck accents on the heel cuff and eyestays, with a mesh tongue and heel pad for comfort. The model is bottomed off with a tough black rubber sole and comes complete with the Penny Hardaway symbol on the heel. The Swoosh makes its subtle appearance on the lateral side of the toe.

The re-release of the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Anthracite’ is expected to drop on December 12 at select retailers and at Nike for $240.
