The Nike ACG Moc is reserved for the IYKYK crowd. They’re not quite sneakers and not exactly clogs either, but the uniquely unidentifiable footwear has been earmarked for a triumphant 2023 re-up in a relatively OG guise. Up next in the Moc’s comeback season is the classic ‘Triple Black’, which hides the model’s lo-fi comfort tech in an easy-to-wear package for both seasoned fans and newcomers to the sack-like shoe.

Debuted in 1994 straight outta the mind of designer Tory Orzeck (and some contributions from Steve McDonald) as a ‘pre- and post-activity’ shoe, the main criteria of the ACG Moc were instant comfort and reliable fit in a deceptively simple package. The resulting product might look like a potato sack glued to a rubber sole, especially in this blacked-out canvas package pictured above, but appearances can be misleading. Hiding behind the formless upper is a cinch system to lock ankles down, and a drop-in foam insole and flexible tread means low-profile cushioned grip is a given.

Almost 30 years later, the ACG Moc will still likely catch a few raised eyebrows, but the proof is in the wearing. Slip into the ‘Triple Black’ edition on August 3 directly from Nike.
