New Pharrell x adidas PW Hu NMD Celebrates 20th Anniversary of N.E.R.D. AlbumRelease: 6 August 2021
Pharrell Williams has been associated with adidas for quite a few years now, the partnership spawning exclusive offshoots of popular models like the Hu NMD. The latest iteration of this BOOST-soled sock-sneaker marks the 20th anniversary of the N.E.R.D. album In Search Of… that Pharrell was responsible for, alongside bandmates Chad Hugo and Shay Haley.
Presented in a pastel combination of ‘Chalk White’, ‘Glow Orange’ and ‘Clear Mint’, this zesty Hu NMD retains its signature stretch Primeknit bootie upper, which is adorned with N.E.R.D. embroidery on the right foot, while Japanese characters decorate the left. The tonal midfoot lace grid returns to allow infinitely customisable lacing, and the BOOST sole that keeps things comfy remains. Bespoke branding, including a ’20’ on the heel tabs in N.E.R.D.’s font, celebrates the occasion, plus mismatched lining colours and outsoles across both shoes is a unique feature. Subtler details like the reflexology-inspired graphics can be found printed on the sockliner, a motif that has carried across multiple Pharrell x adidas colabs.
The Pharrell x adidas PW Hu NMD ‘In Search Of’ will release on August 6 (the exact day the album released back in 2001) via the adidas CONFIRMED app, and some select retailers around the world will also receive a small allocation of stock.
