Where to Buy the New Balance WRPD Runner

First seen during Paris Fashion Week via AURALEE’s upcoming collaboration, New Balance have unveiled a new lifestyle sneaker called the WRPD Runner, bringing a modern and futuristic take to what a traditional New Balance sneaker embodies.

‘The WRPD Runner is a new concept driven by the unique space where style and performance meet,’ says Charlotte Lee, senior footwear designer at New Balance. ‘The upper has a refined focus on simplicity and quality whilst the sole is a warped expression of our pinnacle running technology, FuelCell. The fluid lines of the foam are blended with the abstract nature of futuristic design, evoking a strong sense of movement.’

Launching in the ‘Sea Salt’ colourway, the WRPD Runner blends a white mesh base with natural suede placed on the overlays, using rounded, non-traditional lines throughout. The N logo is printed in black on the quarter panels with no branding seen on the tongue. The sculpted cream midsole uses New Balance’s FuelCell cushioning to provide all-day comfort as a medial shank plate provides rigidity to the sneaker. The warped outsole design surrounds and wraps the midsole to finish off the sneaker.

The New Balance WRPD Runner will debut in the ‘Sea Salt’ colourway on August 16 via New Balance’s channels for $140. Keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker as additional colourways are expected to launch in the coming months.
