New Balance Releasing Super-Limited Made In Japan 1300JPs

New Balance M1300JPJ Made in Japan

If you missed out on the New Balance 1300JP retro earlier this year, here’s a chance to take yet another L. While translations are hazy, it looks like NB’s Japanese is issuing a Made in Japan version that’ll be limited to 300 pairs. Here’s the kicker: they’ll reportedly cost 68,000 Yen. That’s over $600!

That exorbitant RRP can likely be chalked up to a couple of facts. Japanese craftspeople will painstakingly create the M1300JPJ under the watchful eye of master shoemaker Hitoshi Mimura, who has worked with NB for about a decade. Additionally, the uppers will be draped entirely in super-supple leather sourced from Sanyo Leather, a century-old local tannery.

These will definitely be much harder to pick up than the JP3. NB Japan are launching T-HOUSE, a new concept for their ENERGY and Tokyo Design Studio projects, and the M1300JPJ will commemorate the occasion.

On June 29, raffles will open for the select few prepared to cough up big Yen for what will be one of 2020’s biggest under-the-radar releases. That’s all that can be gleaned from Google Translate so far.

Stay tuned for any potential wider release details, but don’t hold your breath…
