For the sneakerheads that missed out on the ‘Version 2’ drop earlier this year, or simply those who aren't bothered by limited editions and just want a solid sneaker, look to the GR New Balance 990v2. It’s just landed in its OG grey glory and looks just as lush as it did when it first came out in 1998.

The 990v2 is important for a number of reasons. Firstly, it was the successor to the original 990 that released 16 years prior in 1982. After such a long time, NB made sure to pack the latest running tech into their flagship shoe. Thus, the v2 introduced new ABZORB tech to the 990 line, which can still be seen today in the visible heel window. The midsole was also a dual-density variety that’s carried onto the latest NB runners. Up top finds a radical departure from the original 990 upper, with an intricate pigskin suede and mesh combination, plus additional reflective accents on the midfoot N logo.

In all honesty, the only thing that sets the GR apart from the aforementioned ‘Version 2’ is that the latter has some extra red stitching and a red tab. If those details don’t matter, cop the 990v2 in OG grey now directly from New Balance, or hit the raffle on END. ahead of its November 5 drop.
