New Balance Made 1978
New Balance’s new MADE 1978 represents the accumulation of decades of design know-how and technological progression. The silhouette has been inspired by the classic 990, redeveloped as a new sneaker that lives up to the modern performance requirements. Although the 990 was released in 1982, its development began four years earlier but was delayed to allow the inclusion of the latest technologies. The Made in USA 1978 has a modern suede and leather upper, comprised of three pieces that feature perforated detailing, and a finishing leather collar. The new silhouette retains its injection moulded Vibram sole unit from its predecessor, a tough addition that has stood the test of time.
