Release Date: New Balance Kawhi II ‘Goosebumps’
Debuting in March 2022, the Kawhi II has been keeping ‘The Klaw’s’ multitude of fans busy while we await his return to the hardwood.
Signing with New Balance in 2018 after a protracted battle with Nike (surrounding the ownership of ‘The Klaw’ logo), it looks to be a big year for the understated partnership in 2022, the new model unveiled at with the help of Jack Harlow.
The latest Kawhi II colourway is inspired by favourite childhood book, the Goosebumps-themed sneaker scheduled to land this week. Getting a head start on Halloween celebrations – one of the biggest days for sneakerheads across the globe – the Kawhi II ‘Goosebumps’ utilises hues of orange and green intended to resemble slime. The eyelet pattern also adopts a spooky, slimy aesthetic, while the box logo is dripping in Goosebumps-like title font. Ghostly tonal graphics pay homage to the iconic moments from R.L. Stine’s magnum opus, and a scarecrow wears Kawhi’s #2 jersey.
‘One of the most exciting things about working with the New Balance design team is that they give me creative freedom,’ said Kawhi Leonard. ‘Goosebumps was one of my favourite books growing up, so to see that on my own shoe is awesome! I can’t wait to see people in this shoe!’
The sneakers will be available April 22 exclusively at Foot Locker and Champs Sports.
The retail price is $160. The Grade School counterpart will also be available for $140.
