New Balance Japan Releases 35th Anniversary Edition of the 996
is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the , and this has led to several updated designs being released. Japan has joined in with the announcement that they will release their own edition for the occasion, which sees the vintage 1988 get the 2023 treatment.
The new model will have a vintage-pressed sole with clear leather heels and cream rubber shields. The evolution comes with the removable N logo, which can be used as an accessory. When removed, it reveals a smaller NB logo on the shoe, and ‘New Balance 996 35th Anniversary’ which is embroidered on the reverse of the removable patch.
The model will come in both grey and navy colourways, and it keeps to the classic 996 style by creating a silhouette balanced between athletic and lifestyle. The upper starts with a tonal mesh that serves as the base, with hairy suede overlays coming over the top to add dimension. Pops of white accentuate the N logo, laces, tongue tag and heel counters.
The 996 35th Anniversary model will be available on July 28 at 10 am Japan Standard Time from the New Balance Japan website. Hit links below!
