New Balance are continuing to pull out more classic colourways of the 1500 that first dropped back in the mid-2000s, a practice that has been going on for a few years now. This edition, codenamed the M1500GGY, actually first released around 2006 as the M1500GBY, and looks to be a near perfect reproduction of the OG. There are a number of features on this colourway that distinguish it from the rest of the 1500 releases from that era, and these features have aged particularly well.

Most NB 1500s use a mix of either suede or leather panels combined with mesh inserts on the toe box and tongue. However, this 1500 substitutes the mesh for perforated leather, making for a more winter-ready mode. Perceived weather-resistance aside, the light grey nubuck colourway, embroidered yellow accents, and crisp white ENCAP sole probably means this isn’t the first choice for when there’s moisture in the air. But if conditions are dry and the temperatures are low, these portable Made In England heaters will be perfect. *flame emoji*

The New Balance 1500 M1500GGY is out now from European retailers such as 43einhalb, who captured the killer on-foot shots above, but availability should be global.
