Nothing’s Sweeter Than This Chocolate New Balance 998

MADE in USA catalogue has been producing some heat over the past few years, especially with at the helm. We’re fresh off the back of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, which featured bangers such as the ‘Hi-Lite’, ‘Chive’ and ‘True Camo’. Green was the standout hue for last season, but the upcoming drops may feature plenty of brown following the unveiling of this in crisp chocolate tones.

As the next MADE In USA iteration in line to drop, this NB998 has been kitted with an ultra-premium build, coming correct with a full nubuck base layer, kitted further with black leather overlays. Adding an extra special touch is the cream laces, contrasting slightly with the white midsole and liner.

Originally, the New Balance 998 arrived in 1993 and was actually the first shoe to feature NB’s then-innovative ABZORB cushioning. It’s nice to see the legendary 998 back in circulation, as ahead of being resurrected by Teddy Santis in 2023, the model had been somewhat quiet on the release front. Santis brought the icon in true fashion, dropping the signature grey-on-grey, followed by banger colourways such as the ‘Purple Suede’ for MADE in USA Season 3.
