Update March 2, 2023: After seeing an exclusive release via Aimé Leon Dore, the New Balance 996 in navy is set for a wider drop. You’ll be able to cop from the New Balance webstore on March 3.

Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have one of the strongest affiliations in the industry. Together, the brands have created some of the strongest collaborations in recent years, including a duo of co-created 993s – which saw a beef-and-broccoli colourway, as well as a ‘Taupe’ pair. They also linked up to revive the heritage hooper 650 model, releasing it in a quartet of colours.

Of course, their relationship has been even further strengthened through the brand’s founder, Teddy Santis, who is in the midst of spearheading NB’s Made In USA 990 series. Next up, ALD are set to receive an exclusive release of the 996. The silhouette debuted in 1988, marking a significant departure from the original 990. Now it’s back for the first time since 2021, taking part in NB’s spring 2023 Made in USA collection. Constructed with hairy suede uppers in ‘NB navy’, the pairs also feature MIU branding on the insoles and woven tongue labels. Extra comfort is added through the ENCAP midsoles, providing cushioning for everyday wear.

The Aimé Leon Dore-exclusive New Balance 996 is available now directly via the ALD webstore. Hit the links below to get copping.
