The New Balance 991 Gets a Harris Tweed Makeover

In 2022, New Balance are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their UK-based Flimby factory, and they’ve curated a special selection of Made in UK iterations to celebrate! Alongside the ‘Flimby Celebration Pack’ and Dover Street Market colab, NB have released a swathe of sought-after NB991 colourways. Now, to round out the year, they’ve decided to drop another combo, this time swapping the usual mesh for Harris Tweed.

NB specifically reference the Donkey Jacket, a staple of the British Workwear uniform of yesteryear, looking to the jacket’s 19th-century-style textured wool. Most of the 991’s upper has been doused in black leather with subtle grey contrasting accents, which replaces the usual mesh underlays with textured Harris Tweed.
