New Balance are having an epic year thanks to archive models like the 2002R and 550, which have gone from obscurity to sneaker stardom in no time. Their MADE in USA line has also been a big part of the NB hype, mostly thanks to Aimé Leon Dore’s Teddy Santis, who’s been dropping multiple takes on the 99X series through his creative director role. Newer models are also starting to pick up steam, especially the 9060, which has now been dressed in a ‘Black/Castlerock’ colourway.

Although relatively new, the 9060 has made a name for itself through its ‘retrofuturism’ design language, reworking elements from the NB archive as if from the future. The mix of suede and mesh on the upper pulls directly from 990 models, with the exaggerated and bulbous midsole looking to the 860v2. A monochromatic tonal mix was chosen for this pair, utilising blacks and greys for most of the upper and subtle ‘Castlerock’ hits along the medial.

If you’re looking to cop the New Balance 9060 in ‘Black/Castlerock’, head to retailer asphaltgold on September 3.
