Update April 19, 2023: Another seemingly Action Bronson x New Balance-inspired pair of 580s has arrived, this time featuring much more of the blue hue seen in the designer’s ‘Lapis Lazuli’. This latest 580s colourway features ‘Blue with bright Lapis and washed burgundy’, also featuring varying shades of green and pink. Inside you’ll find mismatched insoles. They’re currently available to buy at select retailers now.

It’s no surprise to the sneakersphere when familiar colourways surface, particularly when a brand appears to be inspired by their top-tier collaborations to create aesthetic inline iterations.

One of the latest pairs that could be categorised as such is the latest New Balance 580 ‘Phantom’, which, upon first glance, looks reminiscent of the recently released Stray Rats x New Balance 580 ‘Dark Moss’ collaboration. Starting with the uppers, this inline version comes constructed in mostly grey nubuck and suede, whereas the Stray Rats version wore more of its namesake colour. Where the colab had silver, this GR pair features hot-pink mesh – which appears to take on a similar hue to its counterpart. Then there’s the back half of the midsole, which wears a very similar shade of lime green. Changing it up is the colour of the Rollbar and outsoles. And, of course, you cant miss the tongue tab branding. All in all, these 580s are quite a tasty pair, not to mention the perfect choice for anyone who missed out on Stray Rats’ 580s.

The New Balance 580 ‘Phantom’ will be available on April 5.
