The New Balance 580 is mounting its glorious comeback into 2023 with the imminent arrival of some classic colourways revisited on the cult model. Brown and green combinations immediately draw links to the tasty moniker first coined by another outdoors footwear brand, but given the 580 is supposedly a trail-adjacent model, the pairing is right at home here.

Nubuck and mesh are specced on this pair, making for an appropriate balance of premium street use and connotations of performance. Ain’t nobody going faster than John Howard power-walk pace in these, but the revived Rollbar will promise the same stability the 580 did decades ago.

The period revival continues with plasticky bits on the upper, some reflective dabs here and there, plus rubber 580 badges on the tongue. Black midsoles and lining add some visual weight to the otherwise brown and green upper, which should prove a versatile, year-round option.
