The New Balance 550 ‘Pink Sand’ Is Damn Pretty
No one could have predicted the meteoric success of the in recent years (well, outside of New Balance).
A basketball sneaker from deep, deep within the vault, the 550 was long gathering dust until Teddy Santis and the crew at teamed up with New Balance to resurrect the silhouette (head of collaborations actually had to find old Japanese New Balance catalogues for information on the model).
It appears the effort was worth it, with the Boston imprint continuing to roll out fresh colourways of the silhouette.
The latest is a subtle ‘Pink Sand’ rendition layered with leather, suede and mesh. Designed by the legendary sneaker stalwart the 550 is, of course, emblazoned with all of its design hallmarks, including the signature ‘550’ branding and small ‘N’ side logos. Down below, vintage rubber outsoles complete the design.
