It was back in when and resurrected the legendary after an extended hiatus. The success of the backless collaboration and slow rise of the mule bolstered the Beatnik in the consciousness of sneaker consumers and it soon became a regular on shelves at stores. Since then, the mule movement has mostly faded and the Beatnik has gone out of style, but it still remains in the heart of many. Now, it’s been announced that Japanese brand NEEDLES and Reebok will resurrect their 2018 sleeper hit, but this time there’s a major difference.

Spotted it yet? This Beatnik goes without the backless strap, meaning no sport mode. Interestingly the original NEEDLES variation sported the first-ever removable Beatnik strap, which then went on to be the norm for the GR pairs. Other than that change, the colourways are all too familiar, with one iteration in black and another in beige. Both boast NEEDLES’ iconic butterfly motif and exude the boho-chic vibe the Japanese brand is known for.

The latest NEEDLES x Reebok Beatnik will land through both brand’s channels on May 25.
