Needles and ASICS Are Dropping a Stealthy GEL-NYC

Following their collaborative EX89 last year, Needles and ASICS are coming together once again, this time tackling the GEL-NYC. In what’s looking to be a focus year for the retro-inspired silhouette the two Japanese brands are set to drop a stealthy black and purple colourway, with design details that reflect the Nepenthes-owned label’s aesthetic.

The Needles x ASICS GEL-NYC sees the style’s usual suede and mesh construction get swapped out for tumbled leather and hardwearing canvas – this is a pair you can wear without worrying about messing them up. The dominant black hue is accented with Needles’ signature purple shade, which hits the laces, outsoles and embroidered logos at the tongue and heel tabs. The aforementioned tongue branding is split between the two sneakers: the left features a Needles wordmark, while the right boasts an ASICS logo. The pair’s heel tab branding rounds things off with Needles’ butterfly logo on both feet.

As it stands the Needles x ASICS GEL-NYC is looking likely to be exclusive to Japan. The pair will drop on March 1 at 11am JST.
