Double Trouble: MSCHF's Chaotic BWD High Reaches New Heights
No one understands the secret sauce to internet virality quite like the provocative art collective Established in Brooklyn in 2016, MSCHF have consistently unleashed footwear that explode into the zeitgeist. From the intergalactic to impish blood-infused , nothing is sacred.
The latest brain bolt from the MSCHF team involves a bonkers high-top iteration of their backwards BWD Mule from 2023. Literally taking their zany concept to new heights, the new blue, black and white BWD High retains the two entry points of its predecessor, so the shoe can be worn both normally and backwards. Bizarrely designed in collaboration with Donald Glover (the man behind hit-maker and FX television series Atlanta), the shoe is replete with motorsports visuals across the uppers, a savvy move considering the recent popularity of the F1 in the streetwear industry. The graphics also look like they’re taking cues from road safety signs and hazardous materials warnings, which adds to the bold industrial aesthetic and is fitting given the chaotic nature of the silhouette. The MSCHF BWD High will launch on September 24 at 2pm EST. The shoe will be available on the MSCHF website for $200. Peruse the gallery above and keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
