In the past few years, Ghanaian-born American designer Mimi Plange has become one of Nike’s most exciting collaborators, and now the eponymous label is preparing to drop its upcoming Nike collaboration on the LeBron 20. As a brand, Mimi Plange is known for blending pre-colonial African heritage with a modern and rebellious take, resulting in an ‘unfashion’ approach. Having previously curated the LeBron 18 silhouette, up next comes the Mimi Plange x LeBron 20 ‘Ceremony’, which pays homage and draws inspiration from the Maasai people of Tanzania.

As previously seen, Mimi Plange’s Nike collaborations have resulted in vibrant product, and the ‘Ceremony’ is no different. Featuring white uppers and soles, the pair features bright mixed media details including weaving, textures, printing, and satin stitch embroidery. These specific design details tell the story of the Maasai people, aiming to draw attention to their mastery of pattern. The release also features an extra set of laces, specialised lace dubraes, and heel and tongue branding.

The Mimi Plange x LeBron XX ‘Ceremony’ is locked to release in the coming days on September 7 via the brand’s online channels. A wider release is scheduled via Nike on September 9. The retail price is $250.
