ASICS have been enjoying stacks of hyped releases over the past couple of years, their retro runners making their way into the spotlight of many lineups and rotation rosters. There’ll be a few models that come to mind, and, of course, while the GEL-Kayano 14 still reigns supreme, ASICS also reintroduced the GEL-Nimbus 9 last year.

Other than their inline heat, there have been other notable movements that have seen ASICS forge new ground. In particular, they’ve done this through their alignment with the fashion world, linking up with some of the best brands of the moment, but they haven’t been just any link-ups, with designers reworking existing pairs and bringing a fresh take. Case in point: (di)vision, who reworked 20 pairs of the EX89 and GEL-Nimbus 9, and Cecilie Bahnsen, who upcycled a collection seen on her Paris Fashion Week runway. Next, ASICS have teamed up with Seoul-based design label Matin Kim to create three pairs of the GEL-Sonoma 15-50 in ‘Black/Pure Silver’, ‘Glacier Grey/White’ and ‘Oasis Green/Pure Silver’. Featuring leather uppers and mesh bases, the Glacier Grey and Oasis Green also come complete with toggle lacing systems. The pairs will release on April 7.
