Slide Into the Shadows: Louis Gabriel Nouchi Transforms the PUMA Mostro

The has always marched to its own drumbeat – spiked sole, Velcro strap, Y2K weirdness and all. Now it’s shedding even more convention, thanks to Paris-based designer Louis Gabriel Nouchi. Reimagined in mule form, the cult classic returns – stripped-back, sculptural, and surprisingly wearable.
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill collaboration. Nouchi – a La Cambre graduate and former protégé – launched his eponymous label in 2017, quickly carving a niche with gender-fluid tailoring and emotionally charged storytelling. Past collections have pulled from classic literature and cinematic mood boards – perfect prep for a footwear concept this bold.
Built from a single piece of injected EVA foam, the Mostro Mule ditches the OG fastening system in favour of slick, slip-on minimalism. What remains is the DNA-defining outsole: that unmistakable spiked tread is lifted directly from the 1999 original. It’s a bold remix, equal parts retro homage and future-forward flex.
The story started a few months back with a monochrome duo of Mostro Mules in all-black and all-white, but now Nouchi’s linkup with PUMA rolls on with chapter two – fresh colourways in earthy brown and stealthy green.
The new hues are available now via LGN’s site, with a wider release locked in for May 30 at select PUMA retailers.
