Kith and ASICS Collaborate on Massive Marvel X-Men GEL-Lyte III Collection
Famed Marvel Comics series X-Men is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a slew of multimedia releases. One of these is a huge collaborative capsule with and on a series of seven different colourways, each corresponding to key characters in the superhuman squad. One major drawcard of this release is the reissue of some limited edition trading cards that are among the most collectible in the X-Men universe.
Given Kith founder proclivity for the GL3 – not to mention the fact he helped develop the of the model – it’s no surprise this model features front and centre of the colab. Characters like Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue and Storm are expected inclusions in the vibrant colourways that range from stark white to vibrant blue, rendered in suede and nylon mixes. Of course, Wolverine is the star of the show as one of the genre’s most recognised figures, so he gets two colourways that are inspired by his iconic 1975 and 1980 costumes.
In true collector fashion, the collaboration comes packaged in ‘blind box’ format, meaning it’s a lucky dip situation for those who land a pair. Distributed throughout the boxes are PSA-graded trading cards from ‘Uncanny X-Men Series 1’, which have been reprinted by Upper Deck and are customised with Kith and Marvel branding to differentiate from the original 1992 editions.
The Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-Lyte III ‘X-Men’ collection will be first sold at San Diego Comic Con, which runs from July 19 to 23, followed by a limited drop at Kith locations on July 28.
