Kawhi Leonard to Sign With New Balance
While the terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed or officially announced, Leonard will reportedly serve as the face of New Balance basketball as the brand looks to re-establish its presence on the hardwood. The news follows the long-standing rumours that Leonard was unhappy with Jordan Brand and considering a departure from the Jumpman. Leonard's Jordan contract expired in October.
The signing of the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year is just the latest basketball-related splash for NB: the company made waves in October by signing NBA prospect Darius Bazley — a former Syracuse recruit who opted to skip out on college in order to prep for the draft on his own terms — to a deal worth up to $14 million USD.
