Menswear designer has taken a leap into the sneaker world once again, this time linking with Converse to remix the Skidgrip. Finessing two colourways, Elliott calls on his childhood in California to inspire the designs.

The uppers of each make use of a flocked canvas, which gives off a distinct oxidised look, with one pair arriving in a rusty tone, and the other in mossy green rust tones. Adding to the mix are nickel lace eyelets, a herringbone outsole, a smooth midsole, co-branded sockliners, and a second set of coloured laces. Last but not least, co-branding arrives on the heels for a minimal logo hit.

‘I discovered the Skidgrip like any kid in California through skating early in my childhood. It’s a silhouette that’s iconic to our surf and skate culture,’ says Elliott. ‘As a skate shoe, it was instantly recognisable for the authenticity it held. The Skidgrip is an important shoe in culture for skate and in representing California.’

You’ll be able to cop both colourways via Converse’s website and John Elliott retail stores on August 19.
