Joe Freshgoods Slides Into Comfort With the New Balance RCVRY

Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Freshgoods is back in his bag. After celebrating five years with New Balance via the ‘Aged Well’ NB 992 and a matching documentary retrospective, the Chicago creative is back with a new retail concept, a fresh silhouette, and a different kind of flex. His latest drop? The New Balance Fresh Foam X RCVRY, released under his new store banner, Every Now & Then.
A major pivot from his usual storytelling-rich collabs, the RCVRY goes full zen mode. It’s a sleek, one-piece recovery slide made entirely from injected foam, wrapped in a tonal green that’s anything but mellow. The Fresh Foam X midsole keeps things plush, while the 360-degree massaging interior turns every step into a tension-melting moment. On the sole, dark green EVA pods serve up grip with low-key contrast, keeping things grounded in more ways than one.
Unlike his past drops drenched in nostalgia and bold narratives, this one feels stripped-back, almost meditative – an ode to stillness and reset. It’s a vibe, and it’s perfectly timed with the rollout of his Every Now & Then storefront.
Every Now & Then is Joe Freshgoods’ Chicago-based retail and creative concept, which officially opened in 2022. More than just a shop, it serves as a hub for storytelling, community collaboration, and limited-edition product releases.
The multifunctional space has hosted high-profile launches such as the Joe Freshgoods x Vans Vault ‘Honeymoon Stage’ collection and New Balance’s ‘Beneath the Surface’ campaign. Operating primarily on weekends, the space blends elements of a gallery, boutique, and cultural salon – a physical manifestation of the Freshgoods ethos.
The slide’s first drop is locked in for Saturday June 7, as part of ENAT’s Chicago block party. As always, keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
