Update May 27 2022: Following the initial leaked imagery, @prvt.selection has shared another look at J Balvin’s upcoming Air Jordan 2 collaboration!

J Balvin is a global reggaeton superstar, an outspoken mental health advocate who just launched a new mental health and wellness app called OYE, and with the recent reveal of his Air Jordan 2 colab, a two-time Jordan Brand collaborator. The follow-up to Balvin’s Air Jordan 1 (released in 2020), this new take on Michael Jordan’s second signature sneaker displays Balvin’s boisterous nature and colourful personal flair.

Dressed in shades of light blue and grey, the man they call Don Jose’s Air Jordan 2 is inspired by the sky – an inspiration made overt by the detailed cloud print on the heel overlay. The rest of the upper is constructed of subtle grey suede and blue ripstop material that’s somewhat reminiscent of the Union x Nike Dunk Low ‘Argon,’ both of which are split by a plentiful helping of rainbow contrast stitching. One of Balvin’s logos is present on the heel and another on the inner half of the tongue, which, along with the collar lining, features the same cloudy print as the heel.

The J Balvin x Air Jordan 2’s flash and flair doesn’t end there, though – quite literally, as both the ball-and-wings logo on its tongue and its outsole glow in the dark thanks to embedded LED lights. Before the shoe was revealed in these photos from @solebyjc and @sneaktribe, this glowing detail was its only known feature, as Balvin teased it last December. His Air Jordan 2 is the latest in a long line of recent co-created AJ 2s, ranging from Virgil Abloh and Union to other unreleased styles like Nina Chanel Abney and Maison Château Rouge’s colabs.

An official release date for the J Balvin x Air Jordan 2 has yet to be announced, but early rumours have its arrival set for this October. Keep it locked here for more drop info and word on an MSRP as it’s made available!
