It Doesn’t Get Much Cleaner Than An All-White New Balance 1400

This New Balance 1400 may be a late entry into SF’s recent ‘The All-Time Greatest Triple White Sneakers’ because it’s clean AF. The en blanc edition adds a new option to the 1400 roster, which has been steadily growing as of late.

The NB 1400 debuted in 1994 and just about instantly found a spiritual home in the streets of Japan. Such was its early exclusivity that international sneakerheads hip to NB would make the cross-continental trip to Tokyo just to attempt to find a pair of the coveted sneakers – which often weren’t available any bigger than 29cm (11 US). While the Internet and cheap international flights have somewhat helped dispel some of the mythology surrounding the 1400’s assumed unicorn status to the rest of the world, its underrated status suggests there is still plenty of mystique.

As such, it’s not too much of a stretch to suggest this all-white, all-leather rendition of the NB 1400 is as much a celestial object as it is a clean take on a relatively obscure sneaker. Usually made in suede, the smooth leather swap now means these sneakers will practically glow in the sunlight.

The New Balance 1400 M1400B will release at Japan’s atmos on June 12, but it’s possible pairs will also make it abroad.
