ISSEY MIYAKE Are Launching a New Balance Colab Next Week
Lauded Japanese brand known for their extravagant pleats and material textures, are having a red-hot crack at sneaker collaboration. Partnering up with for the first time, the duo has crafted a somewhat new take on the low profile 2010s Minimus, dubbed the MT10O. This colab has actually been a longtime coming, with the first reveal coming through late last year during the brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 Paris show.
This joint venture is ‘inspired by the concept of sensuous physicality and barefoot mobility’, and boasts a stripped down minimalist build. Despite the simple build, the MT10O is bold and makes a statement by mimicking the shape of a foot. Usually, the Minimus Trail would be decked out in a full-mesh build, but for ISSEY MIYAKE’s venture, they’ve opted for luxe leather uppers with a touch of mesh on the toebox. This, mixed with the monochromatic colourways of ‘Black’, ‘White’ and ‘Blue Green’, play into the Japanese brand’s signature effortlessly opulent look. They still do keep an element of techy vibes, with a Vibram rubber midsole down below for added grip.
ISSEY MIYAKE’s New Balance MT10O has already been locked in to land through select retailers in Japan on May 15 in each of the three colourways pictured above. There’s also a wider global release planned for June 14; stay locked to hear about who’ll be stocked next month.
