The late Japanese designer built a legacy around shows that always pulled in a crowd. Whether it was the artful, performance-like spectacles the brand became known for, or fresh takes on its signature pleated designs, Miyake's presentations consistently stood out as some of the best in the game.

However for Spring/Summer 2026 season, all eyes turned to the minimalist label's Design Studio (MDS) for a brand new perspective – this time through a joint footwear development partnership with Japanese brand . Debuting during Paris Fashion Week, MDS brings its signature philosophy to the project, grounded in Miyake’s idea of starting from the most universal form: a single piece of cloth.

The first chapter of the series comes in the form of a new silhouette called HYPER TAPING and is served in black, grey, and 'Lime Green'. Taking cues from the world of athletic taping, the brand's once-structural stripes are now modified to wrap the foot with intent, bringing function and form even closer then ever before. The result is a clean blend of ASICS' tech know-how and MDS’ deep exploration of how the body interacts with design.
