Introducing Coolway, the Heritage-Built Sneaker Brand That Doesn’t Follow the Map

Born in defiant response to that 'same-same' approach within the world of footwear design, are a blossoming Valencia-based brand carving their own lane. ‘We design for those who move differently, think differently, and choose to sign their own path,’ says CEO Carlos Mayordomo. ‘We’re not here to repeat the past – we’re here to build on it,’ explains Mayordomo. ‘We design for the people who turn sidewalks into stages, who remix influences into their own style. Whether it’s through bold colour choices or a fearless step forward, every moment is a chance to express who you are.’
The result is a catalogue of sports-infused kicks that celebrate the brand’s cultural and global influence – as well as their notoriety, which has grown from whispers to whoops with the in-the-know. Design Director Roser Calabuig says there's more than one linchpin to Coolway's reputation. ‘Over the years, we've cultivated a distinctive colour identity that sets us apart in the market,’ she says, ‘[and] each design choice is a deliberate reflection of the sport's essence. [This] ensures that our sneakers offer both style and the functional attributes that resonate with enthusiasts of those disciplines.’
Highlight models like the Mile utilise shock-absorbing midsoles, while the Silva comes with a removable tongue for a personal touch. ‘We meticulously select materials and details that not only enhance functionality, but also pay homage to the athletic heritage of the sport in question,’ Calabuig explains, ‘all while maintaining our brand's urban essence.’
Coolway's innovation clearly goes beyond the products – it defines the mindset. ‘We’re constantly exploring new technologies and materials to keep the brand fresh and relevant, all while staying true to our urban style,’ says Calabuig.
