An intricate duo of Blazer Mid ’77s is set to join Nike’s growing stable of Sashiko releases, emerging hot on the heels of the Air Force 1 that was revealed earlier this week. With one dominated by what looks like ‘Barely Rose’, and the other dressed in navy, the impending drops should cater for a variety of style palates. The scarlet red laces with gold clips add an extra point of difference, as if these weren’t already genuine head-turners.

The Blazer Mid ’77 is designed to showcase Nike’s renowned hardwood heritage, delivering a versatile model that is suitable for a wide variety of occasions. The retro silhouette was deliberately designed to ‘look like you’ve been saving them for years’. These two Sashiko versions of the Blazer Mid take that retro flavour back even further than the 1970s. In fact, the traditional Japanese method of embroidery dates back centuries rather than decades. Initially created out of practical need, instead of merely for show, Sashiko helped to strengthen homespun garments by using running stitches that ultimately became a very durable form of embroidery.

Both pairs of the Sashiko-adorned Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 are expected to land soon, so keep your eyes on Nike and selected Swoosh stockists.
