Incoming: Uber-Limited Michael Lau x PUMA 'Sample Suede' and Figurine
Even those not familiar with Michael Lau’s art will find these undeniably appealing.
The Hong Kong artist is renowned for his distinctive, playful and colourful work, particularly designer toys or ‘art toys.’ In fact, Lau is credited with launching urban vinyl style within the designer toy movement.
In his colab with , the artist has done an incredible job of imbuing a Suede with his unique aesthetic. Named the ‘Sample Suede,’ the shoe works from an off-white suede base, embellished with a pink Formstripe and other suede patches of varying colours, replete with green sample tag fixed to an eyelet. The result is patchwork of colours and character that clash to perfection. White midsoles tie everything together for a clean finish.
In addition to a highly limited run of 250, the ‘Sample Suede’ will come with a Lau-designed toy that he’s called ‘Worth Cat’ – a kooky reinterpretation of PUMA’s logo wearing a pair of tiny ‘Sample Suedes.’
The limited edition Michael Lau ‘Sample Suede’ will drop exclusively at PUMA’s flagship on Fashion Walk in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay on November 23.
