Some deem the Comme des Garçons Play x Converse Chuck 70 as the most influential sneaker of the 2010s decade. The partnership between the street-friendly diffusion line of the Japanese fashion house and the American basketball legends dates back to 2009, and that partnership has spawned multiple silhouettes with the famous red heart on the side. Now, the two parties are bringing back their Jack Purcell collaboration from 2011, albeit with some updated branding.

The Jack Purcell is Converse’s other famous silhouette; it was the eponymous signature sneaker of the famous badminton player. It also happens to be a particularly popular model in CdG’s native Japan, which might explain its inclusion for the long-running Converse colab.

Where the 2011 colab used the Filip Pagowski-designed heart logo in its entirety, this new edition blows it up into over-oversized proportions on the rear quarter, and doubles it across the heel counter too. The trademark red heart returns, and this time there is also a blacked-out option, and both are accompanied by a matching midsole stripe. Additional CdG branding appears on the insoles.

The Comme des Garçons Play x Converse Jack Purcell is scheduled to release on April 1 via the Converse webstore and at Dover St Market locations.
