Hanon Resurrect the EQT Race Walk with ‘Working Men's Club’ ColabRelease: 12 November 2021
There's been plenty of heater releases coming through from adidas’ legendary EQT (Equipment) line lately, as the subdivision has been celebrating its 30th anniversary! The flagship series has housed a number of legendary silhouettes and the Three Stripes have made it a priority to bring back some of their older models. Digging deep into the archive, UK-based retailer Hanon have resurrected the EQT Race Walk for its first-ever reissue since its original 1991 release.
The duo have been inspired by 90s-style British Working Men’s Clubs and their timeless décor, injecting their nostalgic feel into the 30-year-old silhouette. The upper of the Race Walk combines rough suede and rich corduroy, opting for a rich brown tonal look with blue and orange contrasting accents. The dual-branded tongue and heel logos exude an era-specific retro feel, while the unique graphic insole radiates 2021 sneaker energy. What piqued our interest though, is the blacked-out midsole with gum outsole – it shouldn’t work, but it does!
Hanon haven't been the only collaborator looking to the past for their EQT collaborations. Inspired by racing suits, Solebox got in on the action with an EQT Prototype that was limited to just 300 pairs. Overkill joined the party last month as well, bringing along a colourful CSG 91, a hybrid of the original 1991 EQT designs.
Housed in a retro-style box, the Hanon x adidas EQT Race Walk ‘Working Men’s Club’ is a piece of Three Stripes history. If you need it in your rotation, head to Hanon’s webstore, they’ll be holding a raffle that will end on November 12.
