Hanon and Diadora have a fairly extensive catalogue of collaborations that date back to 2014. Now, for their latest N9000 effort, they’ve gone even deeper into history. Drawing on their Scottish heritage, Hanon pay tribute to the ancient Pict tribe in this new colourway.

The Picts were a Celtic-speaking peoples who lived in what’s now known as Scotland during the Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages. A lot of their history has been traced by ancient artefacts and carvings often left on large rocks and metal plaques. And one of these carvings, the Pictish Beast, has inspired Hanon’s new colab by appearing all over the branding. The graphics are repeated throughout the sides, insole logos and one heel, while Hanon’s idiosyncratic flame logo lights up the other side plus the tongue.

As the N9000 is a premium Made In Italy model, a full textural complement of hairy suede is paired up to full grain leather in a somewhat unconventional arrangement of nappy toe boxes and heel counters, and smooth quarters respectively. And it’s all tied together with a tasteful mix of neutral grey, blue and navy.

Raffles for the Hanon x Diadora N9000 ‘Pictish Warrior’ are open now for a July 16 release.
