Hail the Sneakerbox TLV x Le Coq Sportif R800 ‘Sherut’Release: 12 November 2020
Boutique store Sneakerbox TLV is back with another Le Coq Sportif collaboration that pays homage to their home of Tel Aviv, Israel. This R800 retro runner is inspired by the ‘Sherut’ shared service taxis that ferry locals and tourists across the Middle Eastern country. And, perhaps more significantly, this specific purple and yellow colourway is based on a heritage paint scheme of the Number 5 Tel Aviv Sherut, which actually takes passengers past the OG Sneakerbox TLV location and their new flagship store! Buckle up for a closer look at these foot taxis.
The LCS R800’s complex multilayered design lends itself to having stark colour-blocking opportunities, and Sneakerbox TLV take full advantage of this. Bright hits of purple, yellow, black and white are dispersed across the microfibre and nylon upper, a classic runner combo that is luxuriously upgraded with nubuck and suede. There’s some extra gloss with tasteful additions of patent leather, and the stark black midsole keeps the contrast high. Extra Easter eggs for frequent Sherut travellers include the trippy lining pattern lifted from the vehicles’ seat upholstery, and Number 5–branded dubraes. Each pair of this colab is also numbered ‘1-450’.
The Sneakerbox TLV x Le Coq Sportif R800 ‘Sherut’ can be caught directly from Sneakerbox TLV, Le Coq Sportif, and select global boutiques.
