Sneaker enthusiast and photographer Ray Polanco Jr. is linking up with for the ‘Puro Platano 2’, celebrating his Dominican Republic roots.

Facilitated by the Converse by You program, Polanco Jr.’s latest project is inspired by his experience growing up Dominican in NYC. Embracing the brand’s DIY culture, the upper is transformed into a cultural colouring book, allowing those who cop to add their own touch and customise the sneaker their own way.

Hand-drawn cultural images cover a white canvas upper, while the sole unit features a subtle nod to the Dominican Republic’s national flag.

The Ray Polanco Jr. x Converse Chuck Taylor ‘Puro Platano 2’ launches on September 19 online, as well as in-store at Converse SoHo and Boston Lovejoy locations.
