Get Caught in the Web of Ben Kadow’s New Vans Sk8-Hi
Ben Kadow’s achievements to date include current membership as a skater for and , following his lauded appearance in the former’s 84-minute 2018 epic BLESSED video. Now, the latest from his shoe endorsement is a personalised full of skate- and street-ready details.
First and foremost, Kadow needs a sneaker that holds up to the rigours of his intense skate style. As such, suede – the standard specification of skate shoe uppers for decades – covers the toe box, eye stays and extended Ollie zones for longevity. Underneath hides panels made from DURACAP material that again extends the useful life of the uppers. The eye stay hardware is similarly tough, with metal eyelets adding an extra defence against premature tearing. Pretty standard fare so far, but Kadow adds his signature touch via olive nylon quarters with black spider web embroidery emanating from a black Jazz stripe. At the same time, the stealthy black soles hide Vans’ special SICKSTICK rubber compound that offers extra grip over standard editions, and customised POPCUSH footbeds give Kadow extra slam protection. He leaves his mark with hand drawn text and broken glass graphics on the insoles.
