Once again Saucony lean towards food-themed sneakers, with the ‘Sweet Street’ being the next tasty pair following last week’s drop of the ‘Food Fight’. The Shadow 6000 model has been selected again, with good reason too: it’s the retro runner’s 30th anniversary this year.

Like the ‘Food Fight, the ‘Sweet Street’ is an erratic array of textures and colours inspired by the experience of being a kid in a candy shop. And that’s certainly the case with these Shadow 6000s that look like the outcome of a sugar-induced high. Golden brown caramel and sticky honey suede coats marshmallow white panels, bordered by lollipop pink bumpers and garnished with black and white striped hard candy branding. This all sits above flossy white midsoles, and everything is then tied together with black liquorice laces. It’s enough to cause a glucose spike and probably rot teeth upon consumption, but like so many previous Saucony drops, almost impossible to resist.

Of course, the harmful effects of artificial colours, sweeteners and excessive sugar are only figurative in the context of these sneakers. Saucony have put in work behind the scenes to ensure the 30th anniversary Shadow 6000 does indeed prepare the feet for 'Sweet Street', largely thanks to midsoles borrowing the brand’s PWRRUN performance foam.

The Saucony Shadow 6000 ‘Sweet Street’ will be available directly from Saucony on November 15.
